Source Song Festival presents MNSong: Art Song seminars and workshops with composers Libby Larsen & David Evan Thomas

ELIGIBILITY
There is no age restriction, but the workshops are intended for emerging composers. All applications must be at least 18 years old as of May 1, 2022.
APPLICATION FEE
There is NO application fee.
PROGRAM FEE
There will be a $500 program fee for those selected to participate.
WORKSHOP PROGRAM
Workshop includes:
- Collaboration, coaching, live performance, and recording of your submitted work by local professionals
- Collaboration with MNDuo participants on the new work you compose with text by Poet-in-Residence, resulting in a live performance and recording
- One individual composition lesson with Libby Larsen
- One individual composition lesson with David Evan Thomas
- Masterclass with Arlene Shrut on how to present your music
- Access to Online Resources
- Access to Poet-in-Residence Lecture on their process, + live Q&A
- Access to two lectures on Text Setting – Libby Larsen
- Access to one lecture on choosing a poem
- Access to one panel discussion on writing for the voice, featuring Libby Larsen, David Evan Thomas, Will Liverman & Susanne Mentzer.
- Access to one panel discussion on writing for the piano, featuring Libby Larsen, David Evan Thomas, Lydia Brown, and others
- Access to one lecture on how to write about songs from David Evan Thomas
APPLICATION SCORE REQUIREMENTS
- an original song or songs total time of 5-8 minutes;
- written for single voice and keyboard;
- set to a text written in English (applicants must provide proof of permission for use of all copyrighted texts not in Public Domain).

Source is committed to eliminating barriers to your experience in an effort to further our mission of equity in all aspects of our application process. That is why the only requirements for your application are:
- Your work* – video recordings for performers, and scores/recordings for composers
- A 150-word biography*

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
Completed applications are due by March 25, 2022. (Extended Deadline!)
APPLICATION FEE
For the 2022 festival, all application fees have been waived.
NOTIFICATION OF ACCEPTANCE
If accepted, notice of intent to attend and the first deposit will be due April 8, 2022 (50% of tuition). Remaining balance due by June 1, 2022 (remaining amount).
